Mann Tyres is the right choice
Shock Absorber Replacement in Auckland
Your shock absorbers keep your tyres in contact with the road, control bounce and help your vehicle stay stable when you brake, corner or drive over rough surfaces. Worn shocks can make your vehicle unsafe and wear out your tyres faster. At Mann Tyres, we supply and fit quality shock absorbers and struts for cars, SUVs, utes, vans and trucks across Papatoetoe, Auckland and surrounding areas.
If your ride feels bouncy, unstable or noisy, our experienced mechanics will find the cause and fix it properly.
Signs Your Shock Absorbers Are Worn
Shocks wear out gradually, so many drivers don’t notice until the problem is serious. Watch out for these warning signs:
- Bouncy or floaty ride, especially over bumps
- Nose-diving when braking
- Body roll or swaying on corners
- Vehicle swaying in crosswinds or when overtaking
- Clunking or knocking noises over bumps
- Oil leaking down the shock body
- Uneven or cupped tyre wear
- Rear end squatting when towing or carrying a load
- Longer stopping distances
If you notice any of these, book a shock absorber inspection.

Why Replace Shocks in Pairs?
We recommend replacing shock absorbers in pairs, either both front or both rear. A new shock paired with a worn one can cause uneven handling and braking. Replacing in pairs keeps your vehicle balanced, stable and predictable on the road.
Better Ride, Better Handling, Longer Tyre Life
Fresh shock absorbers bring real benefits:
- A smoother, more comfortable ride
- Improved steering response and cornering
- Shorter stopping distances
- Less tyre wear and better tyre life
- More control when towing or carrying heavy loads
- Reduced strain on other suspension parts

We fit shock absorbers to a wide range of vehicles, including:
- Passenger cars and SUVs
- Utes and 4WDs
- Vans and courier vehicles
- Light and heavy commercial trucks
If you tow, carry heavy loads or drive on rural and gravel roads, we can recommend shocks built for the job. Fleet and business customers are welcome.

Frequently Asked Questions
Shock Absorber FAQs
How long do shock absorbers last?
Most last between 80,000 and 100,000 km, but this depends on your vehicle, loads and road conditions. NZ’s rough roads and rural driving can wear them faster.
How do I know if my shocks are worn out?
A bouncy ride, nose-diving under braking, leaking fluid and uneven tyre wear are common signs. We can inspect and test them for you.
What’s the difference between shocks and struts?
A strut is a shock absorber that’s also part of the suspension structure. Both control bounce and keep your tyres on the road. We’ll check which your vehicle uses.
Can worn shock absorbers fail a WoF?
Yes. Leaking or ineffective shocks and struts are a common WoF failure.
Do I need an alignment after replacing shocks or struts?
In most cases, yes, especially with struts. We’ll advise if it’s needed.
